The Portuguese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, will chair the European Economic Area (EEA) Council meeting from Lisbon on 28 May. The meeting will be by video conference and is scheduled to begin at 13h00 (Lisbon time).
Also taking part in the meeting will be the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development Cooperation of Iceland, Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Liechtenstein, Dominique Hasler, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Norway, Ine Eriksen Søreide.
The main items on the agenda will be the functioning of the EEA Agreement and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the internal market, as well as the concept of strategic autonomy. There will be an informal exchange of views on Russia, the international dimension of COVID-19, the climate and security.
