Tomorrow, 20 January, the Prime Minister, António Costa, will be presenting the priorities for the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels. After the customary debate with the Members of the European Parliament, there will be a joint press conference attended by the Prime Minister with the President of the European Parliament, David Maria Sassoli, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
António Costa also has bilateral meetings planned with the President of the European Parliament, David Maria Sassoli, the leader of the European People’s Party/EPP Group, Manfred Weber, and the President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament/S&D Group, Iratxe García Pérez.
A further meeting has been scheduled with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
In addition to these meetings, the Prime Minister will open the Portuguese contemporary art exhibition “Freedom and Europe: A construction of everyone” in the European Parliament, and will visit the various art installations on show in the European Council’s Europa and Justus Lipsius Buildings, as part of the Cultural Programme of the Portuguese Presidency.
