The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union “will do everything in its power” for the Digital Green Certificate – aimed at facilitating safe and free movement of citizens within the EU during the COVID-19 pandemic – to be concluded by June.

“ It is certainly one of the priorities of the Portuguese Presidency to have this legislation on the certificate ready in June ”

Ana Paula Zacarias, Secretary of State for European Affairs

Admitting that intense technical work still needs to be done in order to conclude the legislative package that will enact it, the Secretary of State pointed out that “the Digital Green Certificate, as a way of providing complete information on COVID-19 vaccination, gives us hope that we can perhaps resume more normal life in the summer. We're on a very tight schedule and we have to keep on working".
