In the context of planning the new framework for the Creative Europe 2021-2027 programme, and following the preparatory work undertaken by the Music Moves Europe projects, the Minister of Culture, Graça Fonseca, representing the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, took part today in the conference on "Diversity and Competitiveness in the European Music Sector".

The European Commission will assess the findings and analyse the conclusions of the preparatory work by Music Moves Europe, in order to define future possibilities for the music under the Creative Europe programme, as part of the Plan for Culture 2019-2022 (Priority C).

This was a conference of the greatest importance, bringing together data from the various sub-sectors of live music, recorded music and music publishing (publishing and copyright) involved in the Music Moves Europe projects, of which Portugal took part in two: Europe in Synch, promoted by AMAEI (Associação de Músicos Artistas e Editoras Independentes), and the European Music Export Study, which involved participation by WHY Portugal, an organisation promoting exports by the Portuguese music industry.

These Music Moves Europe projects will also help to map the way forward, together with national experts, to the presentation of the new Creative Europe programme, planned for June, as part of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
