Lisbon hosts EU-US Ministerial Meeting on Justice and Home Affairs

The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union will be hosting the Ministerial Meeting on Justice and Home Affairs between the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (US) at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon on Tuesday, 22 June at 08h45 (local time).

 

The Portuguese Minister for Home Affairs, Eduardo Cabrita, and the Portuguese Minister of Justice, Francisca Van Dunem, will be representing the Council of the EU at the meeting.

 

The American side will be represented by the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, and the Chair of the Department of Justice’s International Affairs Committee, Bruce Swartz. And representing the European Commission will be Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, the Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, and the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson.

 

The meeting will focus on the following topics:

  • Common security threats
  • Digital challenges and opportunities
  • Fighting crime in the digital age
  • Migration and mobility
  • Priorities of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU

 

At the end of the meeting, from 13h00 (Lisbon time), a press conference will be held at the CCB.
