On Monday, 22 February, the Portuguese Minister of State for the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, and the Portuguese Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, will be chairing the informal video conference of Ministers for Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs (EPSCO). The meeting begins at 08h (Lisbon time).
Under the theme “Jobs, Qualifications and Cohesion: Priorities of a Stronger Social Europe”, this informal meeting of European Union Ministers is to be chaired in the morning session by Minister Ana Mendes Godinho, and from 13h (Lisbon time) onwards by Minister Mariana Vieira da Silva. The purpose of these talks is for the Member States to be able to present their contributions and share their ambitions regarding the Action Plan on the Implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights, which will be presented to by the European Commission in March.
Aimed at discussing some of the more important topics in terms of the economic and social recovery of Europe, there will also be working sessions on the areas of employment, qualifications, fighting poverty and social exclusion, and gender equality.
At the end of the proceedings, at 15h30 (Lisbon time, subject to confirmation), Ministers Mariana Vieira da Silva and Ana Mendes Godinho, as well as Commissioners Nicolas Schmit (Employment and Social Rights) and Helena Dalli (Equality) will hold a press conference.
