The High-Level Event entitled “To Engage, to Care, to Foster – Digital Education Shaping Today’s and Tomorrow’s Societies” will take place on 24 May.
Organised by the Ministry of Education as part of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the event is divided into two distinct parts. The morning will be given over to public sessions for reflection by different segments of civil society.
The opening session, starting at 09h00 (Lisbon time), will be led by the Portuguese Secretary of State for Education, João Costa. At 14h00 (Lisbon time) there will be the award ceremony for the Digital Education Hackathon, organised by the European Commission. The afternoon opening session will be led by the Portuguese Minister of Education, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, who will then hand over the prizes jointly with the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel.
After 15h00 (Lisbon time) there will be a ministerial roundtable discussion with the Portuguese Minister of Education, the vice-chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education, Victor Negrescu, and the the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, followed by a debate between Member States.
