One of the main priorities of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU is to strengthen the social component of the European Union, aiming at a Union of Equality. For this purpose, it is essential to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan, which includes the launching of the European Platform on Combatting Homelessness. This Platform aims to promote a political dialogue on combating homelessness in order to establish common understanding, commitment and concrete progress in Member States on fighting homelessness.

It is in order to reflect on these challenges and on the way forward, that we invite Member States, European Institutions, stakeholders active in combating homelessness, homelessness people and other relevant actors. Based on the launching of the Platform, the debate will pay special attention to key areas that affect the daily lives of homelessness people and to the solutions that can help combating this situation in Europe.
