EU-US Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Meeting

Description
EU and US political representatives responsible for regular dialogue on issues of justice and home affairs will meet at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon on 22 June.

This ministerial meeting, organised by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will be chaired by the Portuguese Ministers for Home Affairs and of Justice and attended by representatives of the European Commission, EU agencies and the future Presidency, as well as, on the US side, representatives of Homeland Security and Justice.

As this is the first meeting with the USA organised by the Presidency of the Council, it is an opportunity for reinforcing transatlantic ties and discussing topics such as the fight against violent extremism and hate speech, common challenges in the digital area, responsibility of online platforms, artificial intelligence, access to e-evidence, online crimes related to COVID-19 and issues associated with migration and mobility, including international mobility.

A joint declaration will be issued after the meeting.
